Podium for ART drivers
The first race of the Andalucian Championships were held at Campillos circuit on 12th March and the ART drivers got off to a great start, with both drivers gaining podium positions.
“ The level of driving and standards of preparation were considerably higher in this first meeting, compared to last year” comments Dave Wright, team mechanic, “..This will make for an exciting and challenging season, which will ultimately help the drivers improve their skills.”
The cadet race’s demonstrated again that these young boys have great courage and determination as positions changed continuously in the top 8 places during the race. Patrick finally achieving a third place in the Cadet final, starting from a grid position of 6th. The first three drivers over the finish line, were less than 0.1 secs apart !!!!!!
In the Junior Rotax event, Nick qualified on pole position and held on to the lead to win both races despite strong challenges from the 2nd and 3rd place drivers.
Nicks father David and mechanic, showed signs of anxiety throughout both races, but commenting after the race Nick calmly said “It was more fun having someone chase, but I did’nt feel stressed, I just thought I’d get to the finish line first!!” “My Dad had all the stress, because we, (well he !!) had to change all the parts from one chassis to another one after the first practice…..he loves it really!!
Finally, Nicks next race is in Salbris (France) to compete in the first round of the European Rotax Junior Championship on the 24-26th March. Results and information can be found on the www.rgmmc.com website.
